Kim Baumeler has been elected the Chair of the new board for the merged entities .

We held a Board meeting to vote in new office bearers. The new positions for the coming year 2015/2016 are:

Keryn is currently the General Manager Corporate Support at the Retirement Benefits Fund. As General Manager Corporate Support, Keryn is responsible for overseeing the business specialties of people and performance, risk and compliance, corporate information services, technology and change, commercial services and internal support and works closely with the other Divisions to enable the achievement of RBF’s strategy.

Keryn has more than 20 years’ experience in senior management positions with State and Commonwealth government, including the Family Court of Australia and the Department of Defence in Tasmania and Victoria. These roles have been in the areas of Corporate Services, Operations and Governance.

Kane is currently the Director For Finance and Business Services at Education Department.  Kane is a Certified Practising Accountant with extensive experience in financial and management accounting across several Government Departments.


Peter Nelson


Peter is a clinical psychologist of 21 years experience. He first started working in the area of Disability at the old Willow Court Centre and then Community Disability Services. He continues to see clients from various organisations within his private practice.

Peter is the current chair of the Hobart Branch of the Australian Psychological Society.


Kim is an independent Barrister practicing out of Liverpool Chambers. Her practice includes all areas of the criminal spectrum, as well as allied criminal justice matters. Kim also has extensive trial experience. Kim is on the Board of Directors for Crimestoppers Tasmania, Member of the Medico-Legal Society Board, as well as a member of the Eastside Lutheran College Board. She is Chair of the Criminal Law Committee for the Law Society and member of the Criminal Law Committee, Law Council of Australia and member of the Law Society Council.

Ron has significant first-hand experience with the disability sector in Tasmania having sought, along with his wife, the best lifestyle and care for his daughter, Isabella who has Kabuki Syndrome.

He is passionate about advocating for those with disabilities and is very committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for those dealing with disabilities, their families and their carers.

Ron has strong business acumen and is experienced in helping organisations to align operational functions with corporate strategy in order to successfully achieve stated goals and objectives.

He has a Master of Business Administration, Master of Financial Planning, Bachelor of Commerce, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Diploma and holds a social media certification.

Garth is a barrister and solicitor. He has spent six years on the Board of Management of Cerebral Palsy Tasmania, and three years as Secretary of the Tasmanian Bar Association.


Jane is a practicing community Pharmacist, qualified to conduct home medication reviews. As part of this role, Jane is a qualified trainer and assessor with extensive experience in training intern Pharmacists.

Jane is also a small business owner of Boost Juice Eastlands and has been a fitness instructor for over 20 years.

Jane is currently completing Masters in Clinical Pharmacy, is a ‘Go Red for Women Heart Foundation’ Ambassador, and Ambassador for Ovarian Cancer Australia.
