Mathew & Kaye On Exhibition
On Thursday 8th June, the Moonah Arts Centre held an Exhibition Launch for four new shows – two of them are solo exhibitions by Mosaic artists Kaye G and Mathew D.
Kaye’s exhibition, titled This is Made in Greece is exhibited in the Albert Hallway. Kaye has worked with a variety of media over the years, and this exhibition reflects her multifaceted work. Kaye draws a lot of inspiration from her memories and yearning for Greece where she grew up. Kaye says of her work “I like painting, I like drawing, and I like pottery. I tried photography for a while, but I’ve gone back to working at the Buffalo Lodge”. Returning to her roots has paid off for Kaye, now being able to share her works with the wider community. "My family is very proud, and my sister and I will go and see the exhibition together”.
Mathew D has a very distinctive art style – easily recognised by those who know him well. Mathew creates pictures and sculptures and overlays them with his signature unique text. Mathew’s exhibition is entitled Boobah Boosca I am and Burning Sunshine and is on display in the Avago Window Gallery. Mathew lives in the moment during the creative process, exploring themes of pop culture and current events that are meaningful to him and those in his close-knit network.
