Mosaic Festival of the Arts 2024 - Wrap Up

The Mosaic Festival of the Arts 2024 was once again a huge success – with the bar being raised once again.

At the centre of the festival was the Aquanebula Exhibition. Facebook comments and reviews included the below:

  • “This is definitely one visually appealing complex exhibition not to be missed. It comes from a masterful conceptual vision and painstaking construction. The visual blending into a holistic aquatic presentation is fantastic for adults and children of all ages.” –Facebook User

  • “So full of joy” – Facebook User

  • “This is fabulous, well done to all involved.” – Acting Glenorchy Mayor, Sue Hickey via Facebook

  • “This is what you can achieve when a community works together, egos are checked at the door and it comes about making a wonderful result that everyone is an equal participant in.” – Art Critic Andrew Harper, via TasWeekend Magazine.

Surrounding the Exhibition, several performances were held in the theatre space of the Moonah Arts Centre, including:

  • Ammarra Dance Ensemble with special guest performance from Grant P demonstrating A Fight for Power and Who Deserves It.

  • Into the Blue performed by Drama Skills Workshop and CentreStage involving musical, dance, puppetry, multimedia, poetry and prose performances exploring the ocean.

  • Freestylin’ Groove and Xpress Radio presented a series of improvised vignettes of sound and dance exploring oceanic themes with elements of both chaos and tranquillity through music and dance.

  • A Dance Into The Abyss was a collection of dance performances, spoken word and multimedia vignettes presented by X-Press Radio and Dance Explosion, and a TED-like talk from Grant P about the opportunities technology artificial intelligence has opened up for him.

  • Mosaic Studio’s premiered their latest film The Way We Could Be. This a film that delves deep into the depths of what it is to be human, to be vulnerable, to show your true colours and the beauty of those who support us on that journey. The screening was followed by a Q&A Panel with the cast, writers, producers and directors of the film.

We can only imagine what the artists and performers have in mind for the Mosaic Festival of the Arts 2025 – but being in its 10th year, we expect it will be something else unexpected and amazing.
